As the name suggests, it appears you'd be overwriting what you have with a complete image. I have seen the command
sudo make_modules install To install and use the linux kernel.
But I'm not confident that will work given the architecture of the mango unit. I could suggest grub bootloader to select the linux kernel but even then I think you'd just be fiddling as the system itself is a complete image. that is booted and run
Sorry I've exhausted all of my options. I think contact support directly will give you a better outcome now.

It should be plug and play. Check both ends of the connection, and the adapter. A few possible points of failure there. You may also want to have a USB keyboard to refresh the display if it's gone to sleep, and you may want to restart with the cable plugged in (but I suspect you may have tried to boot it a few times, although iirc some V2 units had a power issue with the HDMI being plugged in and a power cycle through unplugging / replugging power, so I would say try also plugging it in shortly after plugging in the power. You could see that issue with some LEDs on the board still illuminating from the HDMI plug when the power is out).

Seems like the issue I was having was not related to me doing the restore, but the problem that I reported on email.

Started getting this problem again. Replaced the power supply and it booted right up.

Yes the MangoES will display the command line over the HDMI port. I believe this thread involved a kiosk type display, so he installed other packages on his ES.

What IP issue was in this thread?

I just set the lowest SMB version to 1, since there were other places where it was causing problems. Thanks Phil

Everything is running smoothly again, and with the new settings you recommended (such as purging the events at intervals less than 1 year hahah) we should be pretty well set.

@hayden_aus Great to hear you got things sorted out! Never used Digi but have previously looked at their kit (before landing on Mikrotik, actually) and it seems like nice gear.

Power supply is probably the wrong word, it's 48/24v dcdc converter. Once the unit is up and running the unit only draws <1Amp and everything works fine. Even If I put it on a small 9Ahr battery it will drop the voltage during startup 1-2Volts on the battery.
I've tried a 300W converter of the same brand and next i'll try a different brand.
Is there a different onboard psu for the AC model vs. dc model or is it the same unit with a different plug?
