@BG meta are virtual datapoints that can return a value. Scripting datasource scripts are functions that run an alert or can send/set data to a variety of destinations. The benefit of a scripting datasource though is it doesn't cost you your datapoint count.
But do note that because it's a datasource, it doesn't retain a value

Also, fantastic news on your progress. I'm always about and happy to assist if you need me. Email is fine too!

@lgorence Hello Liv, and anyone else who comes across this thread.

I discovered that the AlmaLinux 9 was not allowing the Mango 3 install to complete due to permissions. Even after making the mango user the owner of the /opt/mango folder
the install still failed at the last module and kept trying to restart itself over and over again.

I recursively set the execute permission on the mango folder for the mango user and the install completed and we were able to get to the log in screen and pick up the correct license file.

That seems to have been the crux of the whole install problem.

      Cheers
      Brian

While digging about, I discovered that in mango 3, the legacy data points details page still works the way we need it to for the charts on the details page.

      So, which is easier:

Make the new Data Points Details page show the limits on the chart like the legacy page does
or Change the quick info pop up icons redirect to the legacy data points details page
or Hide the quick info icons and make my data point on the dashboard click-able and redirect to the web page for the legacy data points details page.

I think with my programming skill level it might have to be option 3 as a down and dirty fix.

      Your thoughts would be appreciated.

      Cheers

      Hello Terry,
Thank you for you response. This will let me continue with the upgrade. I am sure we can work with the unique email address point. It will just need to make sure I get a separate contact address for each user and explain to the customer it is for password recovery.

Thank you for your help and I hope you all had a happy Thanksgiving.

      Hello Phil,
Thank you for your reply, You have given me some things to think about.
We use point links because that is what worked in Mango 2. We use them to update a flag column in the MySQL input tables so our SQL data sources know which rows have been read already.

I was trying to use the point links to do the same job but with an insert command instead of an update command.

I need the insert command to work with either state of the binary point. I considered setting the SQL point directly but could only work out how to set a single state that way. And that way I would need an On switch and a separate Off switch on the dashboard.

Any coding advice on how to do this would be very helpful.

I changed my IF statement to use === (my lack of experience is showing) but I still got the validation error.

Here is the trace from the Ma.log that occurs when I try to validate:

ERROR 2019-07-30T07:38:49,400 (com.serotonin.m2m2.web.dwr.util.ExceptionDetectionFilter.doFilter:38) - DWR invocation exception java.lang.ClassCastException: java.lang.String cannot be cast to Hello Phil,
Thank you for the update. In the mean time I will have to anonymise the spreadsheet templates.

      Hello Jarrod,
I have seen in some Java forums about the issue you mentioned. That would explain the differences that I have seen.

I have taken your advice and set the env.properties file so that timezone=UTC and that seems to have solved the problem.

My downloads are now giving correct times. And the cron patterns are now working and not changing the times!

Thank you all for your help in sorting out a confusion for us.

      Cheers

      Brian
