The DS2406 should already be supported via the SwitchContainer. If you are finding otherwise you can ship us a sample and test it out.

        Best regards,
        Matthew

          Hi

the DS2046 does work as a switch but not as a sensor (which its also capabale)

Rather than me send you one - can I ask if you can go to

          https://shop.maxim-ic.com/storefront/searchsample.do?menuitem=Sample&event=SampleSearchLoad

where you can order free samples of all of the 1-wire componets

What specific part number are you using? They don't seem to have much in the way of samples at the moment.

            Best regards,
            Matthew

My bad, I was looking for a DS2046. There is a MAX2046ETJ+ available. Is this similar enough to what you are using?

              Best regards,
              Matthew

Yes, but that's not with Maxim-IC calls it. Can you specify the exact part that you are having trouble with?

                  Best regards,
                  Matthew

Ah. That's a "2406", not a "2046". They only provide samples for the DS2406+ and DS2406P+. Which are you using?

Sadly, no. The samples that Maxim sent i cannot use. When you say it won't work as a sensor, why is that? It should be reading the device's value on each poll.

                            Best regards,
                            Matthew

ok - let me have a play applying a voltage to the switch side and see what happens - I am away at the mo so this will take a few days to achieve

If any one else can have a go at this then please feel free to chip in

OK, I will finally get off my butt and send you one of these like I promised.

It works with One Wire Viewer just fine by connecting a switch across it's inputs. I can see the state change in One Wire Viewer.

I could really use this functionality from Mango as well.

Is there any import restrictions to Canada? Special markings?

Document it as a gift of 0 value. This will avoid the astonishing duties and taxes that would otherwise be applied.

Oh, but if your device doesn't have a RJ connector, don't bother. I'm not set up for integrating components on to boards or anything.

I've got leads soldered to the board now.

On the input side: DQ, Com, +5VDC
                                      On the output side I/O A, com, I/O B

The DS 2406 is mounted on the board with some pullup resistors.

I can do RJ-45 on the input side if you needed it.

I got test 1-wire equipment from hobbyboards. If yours is compatible with that, it should be fine.
