    • Points don't seem to be in drop down list

I have finally got the PLC side of the facility working and now have just about finished implementing the Mango interface to the PLCs to show operational details. I have about 450 points, Most of them are binary status bits (status lights) that I want to reflect on the mango screen. I can pull the status information from the PLC and can see the data being read via the data source "lego" block hover. My problem that I am having is that only about 150 of my approximate 450 points show up on the drop down list when I try to select one of the points from the XID list for an ma-indicator or numeric data display. Any idea where the rest of the list is at or why it is not showing up.
I have broken down the two PLCs into about 4 data sources each. All my data sources point to only two devices, the two plcs that inferface via Modbus IP I.For instance, I have a data source setup with the one PLC IP address and then the points are for analog data. Another does the same but pulls binary registers and bits/coils. Another pulls registers that buffer the VFD status word. I have searched for a solution but as yet have not found an anwer. I am using the MangoES box with 3.x Mango Firmware, etc. I can also see the data point data in question (missing and not missing on the XID drop down list) in my watch lists.

      Thanks,
      Tracey

    • RE: Extracting bit data from Modbus registers

That being the case, it should allow me to do lots of bit banging very quickly. I need to gather about 60 words of data from each PLC (2 plcs) and then show the numeric or bit field representation. Thank you for the explanation that Mango buffers the data for quicker access between scans.

    • RE: Extracting bit data from Modbus registers

Is there a way to take the word data and put into a virtual data so that mango can act on it "locally/virtualy" in a bit wise fashion without additional data cycles across the bus (modbus) over and over?

    • RE: Extracting bit data from Modbus registers

That works. I think the only issue with doing this type of data acquisition (vs manipulation using JS) is that the number of bus transactions increases for all the bits desired to observe in that data word.(ie: 16 bus transactions to be able to observe each of the 16 different bits). I understand where to go from here on this. Thank you.

    • Extracting bit data from Modbus registers

I am working with a MangoES Box with Mango 3.x upgrade. I am trying to figure out how to manipulate a 16 bit data word that I get via modbus from a PLC. The issue is that the 16 bits of the data are flag/binary data, not numeric. I need to be able to sort messages to post to the screen based on which bits (one or more at a time) are a "1" or "0".
For example, Bit 12 indicates the device is RUNNING, bit 1 indcates the device is working nomally, others bits indicate alarms or warnings, etc. Are there any examples or information available on this. I have searched for bit mapped data word in the forum and came up empty. I am using both Chrome and Firefox latest version browsers.
      Thanks,

    • RE: Custom Dashboard inageS(s) segment/shape creation and color control...Help!

HELP! I can get to the modules and click the "update my license". Another tab in the browser opens up and asks me to login. I login and get the following message:

"Note: core version 2.0.5 and earlier is incompatible with the licenses that are downloaded here. Please upgrade to core 2.0.6 or higher before replacing your existing license. If this is a new license and there are no license options below, you may need to change the store.url in your env.properties file to https, restart Mango, and try again.

The given instance belongs to another account"

PS: The GUID is the same now as when I sent it earlier yesterday to Phillip.

Where do I find the GUID after the update? Is it printed on the MangoES box or will it be pulled from the box with some software/web browser???

I am working with the new MangoES box that we picked up at the AHR expo in Las Vegas from your booth earlier this year (late January/early Feb...~ 3 months ago). How can I get the license updated once I do the upgrade. What are the cost factors and how to get a new valid license.

    • RE: Custom Dashboard inageS(s) segment/shape creation and color control...Help!

)Ok. I have generated some 45 degree graphic "pipes" to use and uploaded to the mango unit via webmin file manager and have now spent the past several hours trying to figure out out to get to the "dashboard designer" on my mangoES (ES V3). I can log into mango at the device IP (currently DHCP at 192.169.0.112 with admin admin...) but from there I am unable to find how to get to the dashboard designer. I can get to the "Mango Dashboards v3" (name shown on the browser tab) when I click the small bar chart "Custom Dashboards" icon on the icon row in Mango which opens up a new tab... (http://192.168.0.112/dashboards/settings/edit-menu), but as of now, I am spinning my wheels trying to figure out how to get to where you were at when you made the demo video showing the pipes changing color. Can you please provide additional steps or helps. Maybe I need to do some sort of version upgrade. If that is the case, please let me know how to upgrade the software on our MangoES unit to the needed version that supports the dashboard designer. Also, I have no idea how to get to the "Administration" area such that I could find the Dashboard designer.... ie: your video has "Administration > Dashboard designer" up at the top in the blue banner bar.

      Thanks,
      Tracey

Will, Thank you very much. I will work through your example and learn the details. I think that I will also generate some new "pipe" graphic images and see if I can get some to run at a 45 degree angle to more closely match what I am doing for our customer. I think that that will work just great. We can then use the open screen space to show numeric data and other system status information. I will pass back to you once I get it working.

Thank you for the direct answer to my questions. The other thing that I am having a problem with is the file/folders on the MangoES (ES V3) box that we picked at the AHR expo In Las Vegas when we stopped by your booth. I was watching the example video of how to copy the default files to an override folder and I can't tell from watching the video how you jumped to the file manager from the Mango page in the browser (this is at the 15 second mark into the Mango Dashboard Training - Part 3_Development Environment tutorial video. Can you provide a little more detail on that also. I don't know if this tutorial video is from a desktop installation which makes this issue a little more transparent, but for the MangoES, it did not follow for me to track and follow along with to create a copy of the admin template in the overrides/web/modules/dashboards/web directory.

      0_1493663850925_BeltSegments.jpg

I have two conveyor belt systems that I want to able to show the status of each segment in a color (Green=off, Red=running, yellow=standby/ready). These are similar converyor belt systems that you would see at an airport bagage handling system, just much smaller. One of the belts has 15 segments and the other has 14. They are each nominally about 350 ft long. I have attached a picture example of what we would like to show on the Mango dashboard screen. We will also show some other system information in the blank areas. I would like help/pointers/examples of how to go about putting or creating this or similar image and how to change the colors of each segment based upon what information we read from the PLC registers that provide this status. We are ok getting the PLC info, just can't figure out how to create the image and color each section (this could be/can be something similar to AC duct work or pipe sections. We don't need 3d style graphics, just simple flat "sidewalk" type image with each section color changeable on the fly. We could do this in DGLux like we have done on other similar type display projects, but as DGLux is more or less (less) not supported anymore, we wanted to try to make the change to incorporate the custom mango dashboard HTML5 to achieve this as a simple example of a projexct to learn on as we transition and gear up for future work to use the custom dashboard also that will be more involved.
      Thanks, Tracey

    • Upgrading from ~4yr old MangoES to a new ( our spare stock, ~2yr old) MangoES at customer site

I am need of help in explaining what files can/must be moved over (and how best to perform the task) from the existing system to the new system so that we can make a relatively easy porting and setting up of the newer MangoES unit. We want the new unit to do exactly the same things as the unit that we are removing. We have been having problems with the LAN port on the system and have some reason to believe that the problem originates with the current MangoES unit.... or at least we are doing this exercise to rule out this issue by installing a new unit so that the customer and other vendors to our customer can't point their finger at us (MangoES) as being the reason that the system locks up the network.
I understand that the /opt directory needs to be copied over to the new unit, all except for the license file. What is the name of the license file(s)?
We also have vpn access to this unit via infinite automation. What files in relation to this need to be updated/ported, etc.

Any pointers or recommendations would be very much appreciated. We are starting this job this afternoon so any input ASAP would be required.
This system uses the DGLux along with the Mango automation database, etc.
      Thanks.

    • MangoES - DGLux How to use Popup shared by multiple Buttons - passing different data point to Popup

I am working on a DGLux screen on our customer's MangoES unit. The screen shows the information for 15 scales that keep track of different materials (Sand/Gravel conveyor belts) processed at different parts /areas of the plant. The scales are all the same except for the IP address (Modbus IP) and "name". We have data points that we read to show/display the current cumulative weight processed during the shift as well as some other information.
I want to create one pop up dialog that comes up whenever any of the 15 different scales "reset button" is clicked (button at the end of each scales data information row). From there, the dialog will allow the operator to reset that particular scale daily total.
I want to use the SAME popup and feed it different parameters (the scale name and the IP Address datapoint that holds the reset data register). The operator can then confirm that the data point (scale) should be reset. They click "yes" and the data action occurs to the specific scale ... resetting the weight back to zero (similar to a car odometer "trip meter").
To put another way, we want the popup to operate like a function call, passing the name and Modbus IP data point address for the button that was clicked and then show that name in the popup and operate on the data point to reset that specif scale.
Is this possible to do ... ie: pass the name and data point to the popup and have that be dynamic per the button that is clicked?
Are then any video tutorials that could help me on this or do you have any hints/ideas on how to do this or think that this is even possible? The other option is to create a different popup for each scale, but then we have MANY almost identical popup dialog boxes.

    • backup options for a remote MangoES box

What are my backup options for a remote MangoES box?

I have been tasked with figuring out how to backup the MangoES unit installed at a customer site that is some distance from our office. We can go to the customer if needed (20 minute drive). The MangoES box automates a rock crushing operation at a sand/gravel mine. At the moment, we would need to go onsite to access the box on the customer's local network to communicate via SSH (as I understand?). All that we normally use is the redirect link via mangoautomation.net to access dglux and Mango at the site from our office..
My questions follow the resource links that I have found...
I have looked at the wiki and found the following resources:

      Link1
      http://help.infiniteautomation.com/support/solutions/articles/14000022645-how-to-backup-your-mango-system

      Link2
      http://help.infiniteautomation.com/support/solutions/articles/14000023028-setting-up-remote-backups

      Link3
      http://infiniteautomation.com/forum/topic/1966/idrive

      Question1:
Does following the instructions in Link1 above back up only the Mango files only and not the DgLux files?

      Q2:
This type of backup (Link1) is storing the files on the same "drive" as the system & Mango?

      Q3:
If we can figure out how to SSH from our office to the MangoES at the remote location, does the iDrive option give us our best option for backup to a separate drive.

      Q4:
Is is possible (and how to do it.)... to put in a USB drive (ie: 128GB usb thumb drive) into one of the USB ports of the MangoES and backup specific directories or the entire MangoES box?

      Q5:
I think it to be quite obvious, but should we be doing both local and off box/off site backups?

      Q6:
Should we do both backup setups in the System Settings as available in the "Mango NoSQL Information" and "Configuration Backup Settings" items of that Mango page (see attached pic).

      Q7:
Are there any other backup settings/options that are available that I couldn't find that we should consider using?

I ask some of these questions because I don't know how much bandwidth is available at the site to move a full backup to iDrive, nor do I fully understand all of what gets backed up using the iDrive backup as discussed in links 2&3 above.

      Thanks,
      Tracey
