      is this valid? pointsList[k].runtime.past(MINUTE, 5).lastValue;

        it is a valid statement.. my problem was I tested the runtime value for Number.NAN when I should have been testing object itself as in...
        if (pointsList[k].runtime !== null){ ...}

          Glad you figured it out! You could have done print(pointsList[k].runtime) to see the functions or what sort of thing it was, too.
