Assigning event handlers
-
I'm just playing with event handlers and wondering if I'm missing something. Can I not create a single event handler and assign it to multiple points? IE I have to create a totally new email event handler for each point that I have an alarm for?

Hi psysak,
You can connect an event handler to multiple event detectors or other event types! This was added in Mango 3.3
....But, the UI doesn't supply you any way to do it yet, and things could get weird on the /event_handlers.shtm page if you go for it (but it should still work somewhat, but I'm not sure if deleting the handler would delete only one mapping or all of them offhand). You can see if you export your event handlers to JSON that there is a property,
"eventTypes":[ { "sourceType":"DATA_POINT", "dataPointXID":"DP_1234", "detectorXID":"ED_1234" } ],which can have a list of multiple event types to handle. We definitely intend to provide a UI to this at some point soon.

I see, so to add it to multiple events just do something like
"eventTypes":[ { "sourceType":"DATA_POINT", "dataPointXID":"DP_1", "detectorXID":"ED_1" }, { "sourceType":"DATA_POINT", "dataPointXID":"DP_2", "detectorXID":"ED_2" }, { "sourceType":"DATA_POINT", "dataPointXID":"DP_3", "detectorXID":"ED_3" } ], -
With two more commas (between the entries in the list), I think you'll be in business!
