BACnet publisher issues on RD121C unit
-
Hi
Hope all is well.
I need some assistance with regards to the BACnet publisher. When creating the publisher, it’s not picking up the BACnet devices. There is also no place where I can see to enter the Ip address and port number in manually. Also, which LAN port on the RD121C will it use to try and discover the BACnet device. I assume that it will choose between LAN1 and LAN2 depending on which one is setup with the same Ip range as the BACnet device?
I don’t have any experience when it comes to BACnet units.
Hears what has been tested:
- The Mango unit can be pinged from laptop where the BACnet unit is but not from the BAS system.
-
The Local device drop down menu cannot discover the BACnet unit.
As far as i know from going through the documentation, Mango is suppose to pick up the BACnet device's IP address automatically?
Your expert opinion is highly appreciated.
Many thanks

@Ruan-0 first up, confirm if your bacnet device even has an IP address.
Check the connected clients table in your routerFox

If you are trying to read BACnet devices then I suggest to make a data source as a BACnet /IP or BACnet MS/TP (serial device).
A BACnet publisher will take Mango internal tags and then make the Mango software look like a BACnet device.

@MattFox
Hi Matt,
Yes it does have an IP address. To be more precise, i need to send a couple of data points from mango to a Jace device using the BACnet protocol. -
@Lad
Hi Lad,I am not trying to read anything from the BACnet device and need to send a couple data point from Mango to the BACnet device thus the reason for the publisher and not the data source.
Many thanks

@Ruan-0 I think you might be confused. A Mango BACnet publisher makes Mango into a BACnet device that can be read. If you want to write to a BACnet device you probably want to be using a BACnet data source and then setting the data point value in Mango which will then write the value to the remote device.

@Ruan-0
I suggest you try Modbus IP publisher. I had similar problem when trying to use BACnet IP publisher. -
@terrypacker Hi Terry, Thanks for the reply. I might have miss lead you with what i tried to accomplish. You are correct, i wanted the BACnet device to read value from the Mango unit. Also why would you need a data source with a value and then set the value if you could just use the publisher to achieve this? The issue however has been resolve. The step that i missed/didn't know about was that you'd have to toggle the Bacnet Local device on under the administrator drop down. Once setting up the local device everything was working.

@cwangv HI Cwangv, Thanks for the reply. I have solved the issue by setting the toggle switch for the "Bacnet Local Device" to on under the Administrator and everything was working as it should once the device was registered.
