I'm looking for a java library which I can use to add modbus comms to my own open source project. I have found a few but most don't seem to be very active and I would like some feedback on the stability and support for modbus4j before I invest a lot of time on it. Can someone who has used it for some time perhaps let me know what they think of the library - are there any longstanding probems - are bugs fixed regularly ?

Mango uses Modbus4J in 1000's of applications around the world. It is a well used and full-featured library. You won't see much development activity on it since it has been very stable for a long time.
