      Hi,

Made a page with dashboard designer and everything works fine if the parent item is set to:

      'UI-Menu & toolbar (ui)'

As soon as I select the parent item as a folder it will not load. If I edit the 'Folder item' to link to a custom page then it works? Even though when the folder is clicked on, the custom page (that that folder is now linked to) doesn't show, but now the pages within the folder (below) begin to work.

Am I missing something? Can you not simply have a folder to use as a parent. Is it so that for the 'Folder' function to work, that folder needs to also be linked to a custom page?

      Hope I explained that ok,

      Thanks

        Hi Pikey

The folders definitely works the way you want it to, the folder does not need to be linked to anything. Maybe some screen shots will help you explain as its a little hard to understand. When you say its not working, what actually happens? Have you checked the read permissions of the folder and site?

          Hi Craig,

I originally thought it was something to do with the permissions but I felt like I tried everything and only way I could get it to work was linking a custom page to the folder (even though it doesn't do anything). I guess it works so no real dilemma I just like to understand.

Some screen shots of how it currently works:

This is the item ideally set as a folder

          0_1529070349489_Scrshot2.jpeg

This would typically be the item under the folder.

When the menu item "Richardson Aged Care" is set to folder, that folder is there and the drop down showing the page within works. I can see the page Balancing Valves there also under that folder but when selected, that page is blank.

Did you enter the URL path in manually ? you don't need to put the parent URL in. When you type in the top Menu text, it auto fills the URL path. That is the only difference I can see between my folder which work as they should and yours.

Edit: Why I asked what it actually does is I have had blank screens before with folders and menu items and I forgot to add read permissions on the custom page in the designer

              Hi Craig,

No I didn't enter the URL manually, but since my last response I have noticed that when I link the Parent (that i would like to be the folder) to a custom page it works, but then if I return back to the edit menu section and re-change it to folder only it still works.

However, go back into the edit menu again and check it again, and the folder has changed back to linked to custom page.

At least I have found a way to get it working ok but just making me scratch head thats all.
There seems to no no other effect.

@Pikey4 Yep there seems to be a bug around setting the parent to link to a page then changing it back to a folder.

If you create the folder and save it without ever linking it to a page it should work fine. I'll get a fix out in the next UI module release.

Thanks for letting me know and sorry for the confusion.

@Pikey4 found and fixed the bug. It will be in the next UI module release. The bug was introduced around 11 months ago, thanks for helping us track it down.

                      Great result then.

So discovered that this means, in the meantime, that only one page will work under a folder (the page I link the folder to). Tried to have a few pages under one folder but every menu item under that folder, opens up the page that is linked to the folder.

Also have found that if I accidentally select Root - Top Level as a parent item on anything, it wipes the entire menu back to defaults. Which I have found out the hard way.

I did try this a couple of times but did not seem to work. any pages are just blank until I link the folder to a page then that is the page that opens for everything.

I was not able to reproduce that easily. So, if you have further observations on how to make that happen they may be useful.
