Cloud Connect for Dummies

Hi there,
I have a Mango GT V4, and I'm able to connect it to the cloud service, which is purchased through Mango. I'm just having issues with opening up the device web page from the cloud page. I can see everything is working and connected as expected via the cloud connect tutorial.
What things should I focus on for local settings on the device? Are there things that need to be changed in one of the .properties files I should look at? As the title states, I'm not the best with github or java so got to dumb it down for me.
Also, how do I ensure data is being passed to the cloud and stored there?
