Server side script to modify text file on host
-
hi,
i have a text file that i'd like to update on a button click, preferrably with the contents of the numerical register.
can anyone help?
maybe a process command to echo text>[file location]
but i want to append data to the user adjustable register.
thanks
Neil

M2M2 has a new file upload data source which currently can read CSV files. It hasn't been released yet though. Do you want to try it?

Hi Mathew,
I'm not sure thats what I want....
At the moment, i've set up an internal data source.... created a register and set a change event detector
the event detector runs a process command, and i can write a text file ok...
is there anyway to pass on the register value to the command as a variable?
thanks
Neil

Not currently, no. But, why do you need to write register values to a file? It's a relatively inefficient way to do data transfer.

Hi Mathew,
I've developed a sms alarm service with some scripting (OS side) and the recipient number is dervied from a text file within the host, and i was hoping to to make this adjustable from within the scada.
